MIROSLAV TICHÝ 1926-2011
Die naturalistische Straßenfotografie von Miroslav Tichý, der 2008 eine große Retrospektive im Centre Pompidou gewidmet war, wurde in den 1980er Jahren unter großem Interesse der Fotohistoriker wiederentdeckt. Tichýs voyeuristischer Blick hielt Frauen fest, die in den Parks und Straßen seiner Heimatstadt Kyjov in der Tschechoslowakei unterwegs waren. Seine Fotografien sind oft unvollkommen, verschwommen oder durch Überbelichtung beschädigt, was ihre improvisierte Qualität und analoge Ästhetik noch verstärkt. Er ist dafür bekannt, dass er mit DIY-Ausrüstung arbeitet, wie zum Beispiel mit Glaslinsen, die mit Zahnpasta zusammengeklebt wurden.

The naturalistic street photography of Miroslav Tichý, the subject of a major retrospective at the Centre Pompidou in 2008, was uncovered in the 1980s to the great interest of photography historians. Tichý’s voyeuristic gaze captured women out and about in the parks and streets of his hometown of Kyjov, Czechoslovakia. His photographs are often imperfect, blurred or damaged by over-exposure, adding to their improvisational quality and analog aesthetic. He is known for working with DIY equipment, such as glass lenses stuck together with toothpaste.
