Contrawork

Über die Arbeit:

Im Verlauf der Performance „Contrawork“ wurden - über achtzehn Stunden und auf vier Tage verteilt - zwei Arbeitsprozesse mit gegensätzlicher Motivation und Zielsetzung durchgeführt.

Die restlose Demontage eines Autos in seine sämtlichen Einzelteile - die einer systematischen, graduellen Destruktion gleichkommt - vollzieht sich simultan mit der gesungenen Benennung der zerlegten Einzelteile, die wiederum eine lineare Konstruktion darstellt. Im Kern geht es bei der Performance um Dekonstruktion contra Komposition. Das Ergebnis der einen Aktion liefert das Rohmaterial für die andere. Die Partitur des Musikstücks wird aus dem System der entfernten Autoteile komponiert.

Die Performance wurde im August 2011 im Rahmen der Ausstellung „The End of the Dream“ bei MicaMoca Project Berlin präsentiert.

About the work:

Soloexhibition with a video and a photo series about an 18 hour long performance

delivered by István Dankó singer and Thomas Fischer car mechanic.

"Contrawork" is a performance in the scope of which two different work processes -

with contrary motivation and goal - are completed in the course of 18 hours extended through 4 days as a performance.

A car's meticulous disassembly into its parts - like a systematic and slow destruction - happening simultaneously with the piece by piece chanting of the destructed vehicle's parts - like a linear construction.

To define briefly the gist of the performance: dismantling contra composing.

The end-product of one action is raw material for the other, so the score of the

musical piece is composed by the system of the removed car parts.

The performance was presented at MicaMoca Project Berlin in the frame of the exhibition “The End of the Dream” in August 2011
